Art and Science

Another evocative photograph by yours truly. This was taken in the Tabon Caves. About 45,000 years ago the world was in an ice age, and a land bridge existed that connected Palawan to Borneo. Early man walked from the Asian mainland and populated the Philippines. Evidence of these early Homo Sapiens have been found in these caves. In Asia, these early humans did not evolve into extreme variants that have been found elsewhere. The Neanderthals are thought to have been a cold weather adaptation that developed in Europe, during the same ice age that lowered sea levels and created these land bridges.
