Farm Report for April 28
I transplanted eight Roma tomato starters into the combined east and west bed, two weeks sooner than last year. I also started some more Roma seeds, as I have room for a second, later planting of four more. These are determinate tomatoes, so each planting will ripen together, en masse.
I broke some new ground between the east and west beds, and combined them into one big bed. You hippies will be upset, because I used a petrol-powered rotovator to cut into the new ground. I found some more buried stuff, including an old cinder-block.
I re-potted the nine eggplant seedlings. I will ultimately only have room for about six of them.
My winter planting of snow peas is dry and yellow, and almost ready to harvest for seed. The spring planting of snow peas is just beginning to bear little peas.
I am thinking about sowing the summer beans, and need to research if it's OK to plant them in the same spot that the peas are now. (It seems to be fine) The pole beans go in the sunniest spots and the the bush beans will grow in the less sunny areas.
The red onions are beginning to blossom, so I bagged the rest of the green onion flowers to prevent cross-pollination.
