3 Dot Journalism

.

Out of sympathy for those in the east and midwest, I will not discuss the weather here in California.

.

I am drinking Australian Shiraz and eating salted peanuts, in celebration of this evening's successful upgrade of my home computer, with a low cost generic 256 MB SRAM chip.

.

I also watched a Ken Burns documentary on TV, of the first car trip, from San Francisco to New York City, in 1903.

Another series of rainstorms is just starting to come through San Jose, but I'm going up to Tahoe on Saturday, and it should be clear by then.

P.S.

How was your painting class?

It was okay, pretty uneventful. I just kept to myself, and it was just a syllabus reading, explanation thing. I realized I'm going to have to get over my abhorrence of art students though. Or at least find a way to not be so bothered by them.
Are you one of those types that actually goes where the snow is? I always thought that was crazy. Snow is cold and unpleasant!

Art students are strange. Do they still wear black berets and snap their fingers for applause?

As for snow, isn't it more civilized to go to it, instead of letting it come to you?

I don't know, staying away from snow has been pretty enjoyable these past few years.

They aren't just strange! They're annoying! They just look amusing until you have to spend several hours with them. All the girls work really hard to look like they are going to commit suicide at any moment, and all the guys strut around proudly hoping that you will be shocked and terrified by the asinine things they have shoved into various orifices. And then of course there have to be the handful of squeaky clean Abercrombie and Fitch models who go around drawing unicorns (female) or trucks (male). It's the same in every class. Only the middle aged people don't bother me. I quite enjoy them, actually.

And how was the documentary, Mr. Journalist?

[identity profile] robby.livejournal.com 2005-01-27 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed it. I've driven the same general route, except there are roads now. Wyoming seems endless. Here's a link to "Horatio's Drive" (http://www.pbs.org/horatio/).

A friend of mine has that on DVD and he told me I should watch it, that's why I was curious what you thought of it. Thanks.

Be careful in NYC, because The Donald does have an eye for beautiful European women. Maybe you would be safer on the west coast with me.
