The Orville

There's a clever new science fiction series that is a subtle comic takeoff on Star Trek Next Generation. The crew all have personal foibles, but manage to successfully complete each mission. The captain was assigned his ex-wife as his first officer. There is a Worf-like species as the second officer, and this alien species is only male, so his mate is on-board, and another male. They are having marital difficulties. The comedy is underplayed, and they have legitimate missions, but the odd mix of drama and humor is entertaining.

Love the Orville. Not only does it entertain, it makes you think.
