Gardening Update

We're having a wet March, but I finished mowing the grass today, and began preparing the garden for planting. Another series of storms will arrive Tuesday.

My first planting will be red onions, and I hope to complete that by month's end. I opened my last quart of tomatoes last night. This year, I want to grow a bigger crop of tomatoes. I still have cases of canned squash.

You're making me jealous (and hungry). I'm in a totally new area and I have no idea when things can be planted. I started a windowsill herb garden and it grew so fast that now I'm worried about transplanting it to the outside windowsill too early.

There are climate and garden zones associated with geographical areas. You can google that and get a calendar of when to plant. Onions can take harsh weather, even freezing, but I think we're past that out here. After onions, I'll next plant broccoli and snow peas. Tomatoes, beans and okra in early June.
