Google +

I spent a little time looking at Google+, and I don't see communities and people discussing special interests. It looks like a place to "follow" celebrities, which is my idea of Hell.

It took a little time and engagement and then boom, you find the right places to be. I keep forgetting to check everywhere else because I spend so much time there.

It could be that I need some directions. Can you link me to a place to search for communities on Google +?

I can't remember if there was an actual way to search for communities. There might be at this point in time, I'll have to poke around or ask someone.

Most of what I've seen was based on shared circles that you can sift through or just through the search box for users that you can put in a temporary circle if you choose. Not sure if you also filled out your profile there with your interests. A lot of people don't put anything there which leads to not being re-circled (if that's another concern.)

What kind of things are you looking at mostly?

Hrm. I think the explore tab on the left of the screen might have some general groupings. Like I said though, be careful with adding in a whole giant shared circle, there could end up people you get irritated at. I think you'd go nuts with mine because I post a lot of food junk (most are pretty blah.)

OK thanks. I'll write a profile and look at shared circles. I've been hanging on here at LJ, but when I was recently looking for interesting communities, many hadn't been posted to for months and years. I only have about 5 people left on my friends list that post and reply.
