We're driving down to Cambria, Friday afternoon after work, and camping this weekend near Hearst's Castle. Some friends have reservations, and we have to bring a tent, instead of my camping trailer. I'm going out to buy some air mattresses, because I'm too old to sleep on the hard ground. I'd like to bring my diving gear, but I have no dive organized and you never dive alone. It might be nice to just swim in the ocean and lie in the hot sun, especially now that we've had some rain, and I feel gloomy, as if summer is over, and I've not had a real vacation. A woman was swimming at Avila Beach last weekend, and was killed by what is believed to be a great white shark. She was in a wetsuit, about 75 yards offshore, near some seals, and CHOMP, she's missing a big chunk of her being. The shark severed her femoral artery and she bled to death.
