For those of you that complain that I never discuss auto mechanics:
Someone gave me a 1988 Mitsubishi delivery truck about six months ago. The previous owner has spent a lot of money on engine work, a few years ago, but it kept failing. He parked it for two years, got sick of it, and just wanted to be rid of it. Well, we just had our mechanic open it up, and it seems that it only needs a new cylinder head. We replaced the cylinder head, put in new timing belts, cleaned the radiator, and a few other things. It will be finished tomorrow, but I heard it run today, and I am cautiously optimistic that I'll have another good running delivery truck for about $600 in parts and labor.
It appears that the engine work the previous owner had paid for was never done! The old head was corroded, and had layers of deposits inside, and the timing belt was worn.
