Local Crime Update
Oct. 19th, 2004 07:59 pmI work in a rough neighborhood. Last week, our local 70 year-old Sikh ice cream man set off all the alarms by depositing a fake $100 bill into his bank account. The cops were called, and he was handcuffed, and brought back to my complex to finger the guys who paid it to him. These guys "work" in a body shop at the end of my row, and when the police searched them, four of them had counterfeit money on their persons, and were taken away. The old man was released.
I told this today to Big Rick, who also works in the complex, and he told me on the QT that these guys at the auto body shop are doing drug distribution, and have been under surveillance for some time. Vans and trailers from unknown law enforcement agencies are often positioned near the body shop, presumably full of agents gathering evidence.
The local cops were probably following procedures in investigating counterfeit money, but I'll bet it pissed off the Feds, who have bigger fish to fry. I work about 100 yards away, and will keep my head down when the bullets begin to fly.
