Feb. 5th, 2005 11:52 amFor years, I've had an original "David Lee" watercolor that I like, but never knew anything about. It came from a yard sale, and once I did some careless web research, without much result. I tried again, and now it looks like it may be worth some money. It's a watercolor on silk, and the artist David Lee is well known and has works displayed in museums worldwide. I took some pictures today for an appraisal, and I probably should have taken it out of the frame and photographed it in better light. The appraiser also wanted a close-up detail of the signature, and in it,you can see some of the subtle shadings that the other photo doesn't show. I wonder if the Chinese characters are a signature, or maybe the painting's title.
