Bird Flu

There is a bird flu percolating in SE Asia. It kills 75% of the people who contract it. It hasn't begun to transmit easily between humans, but if it mutates in such a way, it could spread around the world in 6 months and kill 100 million people.

Some of the bio-tech companies are researching vaccines, but realistically, they may not have time to produce real quantities of effective vaccine. Some nations, such as Australia are planning to close their borders if a pandemic breaks out.
