Fitness Update- Wide Awake at 11:33PM
Aug. 7th, 2006 11:15 pmI've been taking advantage of the cool weather and going off on marathon bike rides after work. I'm out of shape, and need the sun and exercise, but later, I'll come home exhausted. The pattern is to eat dinner, drink 3/4 of a beer and fall asleep on the couch with the cat. I'll then wake up at 9PM, and stay up too late, and have trouble getting up in the morning.
My legs are also hurting the day after. Why do I do this? I don't know why I'm not being more moderate. On Saturday I brought along my little camera and took pictures of the houseboats anchored out by Bair Island. They're like floating mobile homes anchored in channels leading out to the bay. It's cheap housing, and years ago, that scene was more colorful. I used to run out there, and remember derelict boats abandoned and aground on the shore, and dogs barking at me from the decks of other boats.
I still see people running along the shore between San Carlos Airport and the Port of Redwood City, but today I was the only one on a bike, as the path is rough, and riding it is an acquired skill. The spandex wearing bike nerds with their fancy racing bikes can't go out there. I forget my little camera, (I still have to figure a good way to carry it while riding) and was sure that, as a consequence I would encounter something interesting, like a nest of snakes or another WWI biplane, but no such luck, jack.
