Movie Update
Dec. 9th, 2006 11:15 amWe went out and saw "Stranger Than Fiction" last night. It hasn't had a lot of press, but I give it a thumbs up. It's a different sort of movie, about an IRS agent (Will Ferrell) who realizes that he's being written as a character in someone's tragic novel. With the aid of a college professor, (Dustin Hoffman), he must find the author (Emma Thompson) before she finishes the book and writes his death scene.
At one point, Dustin Hoffman advises Will Ferrell to stay at home and do absolutely nothing to advance the plot, so WF sits on the couch and watches TV, literally peeing in a bottle to avoid walking to the bathroom. He ignores the incessant phone calls and knocks on the door, but ultimately a demolition crew "mistakenly" rips through the wall of his apartment, in order to advance the plot. Clever, original and well acted.
