Jul. 31st, 2007 07:41 pmI watched the Godfather trilogy last weekend so now I'm prepared to go see Mario.
Mario and his brother had a large electronics company, but they got raided by the Feds and closed down. They had factories in China that were counterfeiting high end networking hardware. At the bankruptcy auction Mario bid on and won some of the legitimate inventory and assets, and now I want to buy some of it.
He's a tricky guy, underhanded and crooked, so I have to be on top of my game tomorrow. On a superficial level, we like each other, but I know the score. I'll be doing the art of the deal with a local legend.
Update: There were some tense moments because of a few attempts to hose me, but after a little give and take, I got what I needed at a fair price. After the negotiations, he started talking about sting operations, illegal shipments diverted to Iran, und dishing the dirt on a few other local crooks that even he won't do business with.
