Scooter Update
May. 31st, 2008 03:22 pmI've been wrenching on my little scooters, with limited success. I got all the locking gas caps off, without a key! I finessed them off in time with another key that sort of fit the locks. I should have been a crook. The one battery that I have is tested and charged. I took all the body panels off.
I tried to kickstart the most complete one, using starting fluid in place of gasoline, but it's missing the choke, and would not turn over. I was looking on-line for a replacement choke, and I can get an electric one for $29, but the original was mechanical, I think. The whole replacement carb, including choke is only $69. There are performance carbs availablr also.
The wildest thing is that an entire new 125cc engine, complete with carb, that will fit exactly into the scooter is available for about $250 That would really make the scooter fly, and would turn it into a serious commute vehicle.
