Old Man Finance
Jun. 13th, 2008 11:56 pmI'm distributing my Dad's estate, and in this electronic age, his stocks are in the form of those fancy engraved paper certificates. I brought them down to Scottrade, and the broker says he sees paper certificates very rarely, and only from the old timers. Most of them were in his safe deposit box, but I found one certificate for 480 shares of Sierra Pacific Resources in some of his papers at home, and now we found 24 series E paper savings bonds from 1979 here in his house. He bought them for $37.50 back in the day, and put them away. They're been drawing interest all these years and now worth over $200 each.
