A Load Off My Mind

I was getting worried because an important alignment system has been acting flaky, and recently refused to connect at all. Over the last week, we methodically replaced cables and software and finally isolated the problem as being a propriety circuit board. We tried resoldering the traces and then replacing the IC, with no luck. We just discovered that a serial port on the board is bad, worn out from years of mechanical stress. We pulled another out of an old Mac computer and replaced the bad one, so everything is fine and we're back in business.

I was literally losing sleep over this, it seems simple and logical, in retrospect, but it was a bear to troubleshoot.
