Bah To The Winter Gloom!
Dec. 22nd, 2010 09:24 pmThe winter solstice was 3:30 yesterday afternoon, so the advancing darkness is defeated, beginning a series of longer and brighter days. The past series of storms was heavier both to the north and south of us, but we did get lots of rain. I keep meaning to take a picture of the little creek nearby. It has now turned to a rivulet, forty feet wide, with white water rapids.
This is the old part of town, and the original settlers chose the best ground to build on. I don't see any chance of flooding here. The rain is over until Christmas day, and I'm happy for that, I have a million things to do, including a bath for Halo, so he makes a good impression when he meets my family. I did some Christmas shopping today, and got a haircut.
I need to do some cleaning inside the house, as my brother may stop by at some point. I'm pretty good at keeping the place picked up, but now it really needs some scrubbing.
