Farm Report For February 23
Feb. 23rd, 2011 05:34 pmWe're having frosty mornings in the mid thirties, but warm afternoons. We may get an actual freeze on Saturday. I try to cover and warm the Zutano avocado tree when it freezes, the other tree is a Stewart avocado, and is much hardier. Today, I found the time to fix the rear wheel on my new/old rototiller, and fire it up. I used it to help dig out more of a basin around the almond tree, and then tilled and worked some compost into a bed reserved for tomatoes this April. My newest planting of lettuce has just begun to sprout.
I joined a gardening community, and it's nice to read about other people getting their agriculture on. I'm really happy that I'm gardening in a mild climate with such good soil. Some people go to great lengths to grow things, but here, it's much easier.
