Emergency Dog Bath
May. 12th, 2011 06:20 amHalo minds me pretty well, I've never seen a smarter dog, but yesterday he fell into the stagnant end of an irrigation canal.
He was exploring off the leash, and mistook a clump of floating debris as solid ground. Once in the water, he kept trying to clamber back onto floating boards. For a minute, I thought I might have to go in after him, but he listened to me, and made it back to shore and up the bank.
The only harm done was that he was incredibly stinky and dirty, but he got an immediate bath once we got home, which he seemed thankful for.
I had some time for gardening, so I picked peas and bolting arugula, transplanted little lettuces, and prepared two spaces for planting; a flower bed and another half row for green beans. The weather is again unseasonably cool, with rain forecast this weekend. I don't know when it will be warm enough to put my peppers and eggplant out in the garden.
