Cooking Totally Wired
Nov. 28th, 2011 09:40 pmI just finished canning 12 half-pints of lemon marmalade. It was easy, with just three ingredients- lemons, water and sugar. You save the seeds as you're slicing the lemons and add them to the mix (tied up in a cheesecloth bag). The seeds might release pectic, because the marmalade jelled perfectly. I'm tempted to try it with less sugar, but we're dealing with a subtle chemistry here, and a less sweet marmalade might not keep well.
I also finished the electrical wiring in the kiln shed. I found an extra light fixture, and spare wire, so I've got a nice setup in there now, with 3 wall lights, a light switch and a two plug outlet. I'm mulling over the paving to the shed. I'm thinking of laying about 150 square feet initially, which will give me a clean and dry route from the house to the shed. I'll lay more later, but I want to stay focused on the ceramic project, and not get sidetracked into general home improvements.
