Entertainment For Dogs

There's a large feral cat nearby that has been hunting the feral chickens, and providing hours of entertainment for the dogs. The dogs recognize hunting behavior and all this drama is fascinating for them. Once a day, I let the dogs out past the fence to hunt, but the chickens are pretty wary, and usually manage to scuttle and fly away. Halo is the smartest, and I see him trying various stalking techniques, and he is the one that sometimes catches things. I wonder if someday Pogi will learn from Halo, and together they will develop some cooperative hunting strategy.

Garden Update January 24

I started some broccoli indoors and planted a row of mixed lettuce, then weeded. All ten garlic cloves have sprouted and the peas are beginning to climb up their trellis. We're having a stretch of warmer weather, without any freezes at night. On a local gardening show, the host predicted an early spring.
