Farm Report June 9
Jun. 9th, 2012 09:46 pmThe Anaheim pepper seeds weren't viable. They were getting moldy, so they finally got tossed. They were from 2010, instead I'll go with 2011 jalapeno seeds. The tomatoes and first row of beans are flowering. Thursday I'll put out some more pepper and eggplant seedlings, and my new garden bed will then have 12 plants in it.
I pushed down the last onion tops, so the red onions will be ready to harvest in about 10 days.
I'm thinking of the front yard as a wolf exhibit at a third-rate Romanian zoo. The dogs are loving it to death. It once looked nice, and I'm doing my best to keep it half-way presentable. I'm baiting the gophers as soon as Pogi finds one, and I'm trying to minimize his digging for them.
Pogi is crazy for toys. He has a dozen balls and sticks scattered around the yard, and he seems to have taught Halo to play with them as well.
Halo is the rare dog that howls like a wolf, when he hears sirens or train whistles, and now Pogi has taken up howling as well. Pogi howls in sympathy after Halo starts up.
