Farm Report For August 26

The largest butternut squash was not tied well enough and broke off the trellis. I'm trying now to encase them in plastic grocery bags tied to the trellis.

Something died in the garden, and smells bad. It may be a rat under the squash canopy, but I can't find it.

The watermelon plants are spreading and flowering, but not setting fruit. A real farmer would probably tear them out at this point in the season.

I should pull up the first row of beans and replant more beans. We'll see if I have time. The ceramics are keeping me uber busy.

Getting Stressed Over Nothing

I was nervous about taking Pogi to the dog clinic to get his rabies vaccination. Last Sunday, the line was so long that we bailed. The prospect of a long wait with a dog that can act aggressive towards other dogs is not pleasant.

Today there was no line, and Pogi was perfectly behaved towards the two dogs that showed up behind us. It was quick and easy, and Pogi is OK for three years.
