I had success with this last firing. I opened the kiln this morning, and everything has fired to a beautiful terra-cotta red, without scorching or discoloration. I watched the pyrometric cone more carefully, and shut the kiln down at the proper temperature. There is a little peep-hole in the side of the kiln, and you position the little ceramic cone inside, and watch it. When it begins to deform, you shut off the gas.

The new RAM isn't working* in the new computer, but I'll fiddle around a bit more before I give up.

*editor's note: Our hero needs unbuffered RAM for his new motherboard, and Amazon.com sent him buffered RAM in error.
