Garden Update
Dec. 27th, 2012 08:33 pmI should be painting my fence, but the recent storm took down two sections of my neighbor's fence, which collapsed onto my property. I'm not sure they even noticed. They never use their backyard. It lay there for a couple days, blocking one route to my south planting bed, and the path of least resistance was for me to fix it. It went back together pretty quickly, but the wood is terribly rotten, so with luck. it could last another year. What I may do next year is to put a chain link fence up right next to the old fence, and as the neighbor's fence collapses, push it over to their side. When they see a secure metal fence they might abandon their nasty old fence, and then I'll have more sunlight in that area to grow things.
In other news, the yellow onion seed is sprouting indoors, in pots. I'm going to nurture the little onion plants for a few months, and then transplant them into the south bed.
