I downloaded some e-books for my android tablet. It's been tough setting this up. It's a Trio 7c, and the manufacturer blocked access to the only place to get the Kobo reader and download ebooks from their store. My guess is that Mach Speed Technologies got some benefit from only loading second-rate apps, and keeping the ignorant from venturing out (and buying) books and games from the wider internet. It reminds me of the old days of AOL, when many people stayed on AOL, and never knew how to travel out to the greater internet.

I had to search around and download a patch to make it connect with the common Android marketplace.

The manual is badly written, and comes with extra, loose pages of afterthoughts. Tech support consists of just recorded messages retrieved by navigating a phone tree and e-mailed questions bounced back as undeliverable.

Still, a new internet tablet computer for $74, now set up and working fine, but many people could not have ironed out all these wrinkles.

Editor's note: Now you can get it for $40 if you send for a rebate. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7761637&pagenumber=1&RSort=1&csid=ITD&recordsPerPage=5&body=REVIEWS#CustomerReviewsBlock
