Cheap "Smartphone" Service
Dec. 14th, 2013 12:55 pmPeople are buying a new type of internet capable wireless phone, which are quite inexpensive, and signing up for just the minimal "pay as you go" wireless plans. A true smartphone can cost $100/month for service and data, but this new class of "dumbphone" qualifies for the really low cost, basic service plans.
An example of a phone would be a ~$120 Nokia Asha 311 http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Nokia-Asha-311_id7132
and an example of the service would be the At&t 10-cents/minute plan. (cost $25 for 90 days service)
The phone is wi-fi capable, so in a lot of situations, you could use it on available wi-fi networks, without at&t charges, but you could also occasionally access the internet over 3G phone networks and end up paying a total of about $8/month for service.
