Farm Report For April 6.
Apr. 6th, 2014 06:18 amI've cleared the south bed of weeds, using a cutter-mattock to dig out the roots.

It's a very useful tool, and I realized when watching the History Channel, that the one end looks an awful lot like an ancient Viking war axe. It actually is a very ancient tool, the name "mattock" is derived from Sanskrit, and the form itself goes back to the Bronze Age.
The next step is to dig out last years' gopher cages, spread compost and rototill.
This will be the last time I need to rototill, as my garden beds are now in nice condition, and I can turn the soil easily by hand. I'm going to sell the rototiller as soon as I'm done
