Bugs

I'm having a terrible time with aphids and flea mites this year. I'm spraying with organic Neem oil, and it seems to help (at least so far, with the Elephant Heart plum). The broccoli, eggplant and one tomato plant are all affected, and are being treated.

I'll watch for problems, and treat things as quickly as possible. There are huge pumpkin fields nearby, and that maybe the source of the bugs.

The vine beans are up, and I'm eating broccoli and bush beans. The onions and tomatoes seem to, generally, be doing well. I now have little squash, and lots of tomato flowers, but no tomatoes have formed yet.

I have eaten my first few Santa Rosa plums, testing if they're ripe.

In other news:

Just today. on day 5 my injured hand is useable. The first few days were bad. I was OK enough to be able to completely weed the onions. They're almost mature, so this might be the last time I need to weed them.

There is now a little Husky puppy next door, and Halo is completely jazzed. He sits next to the puppy, with the fence between them. I've always felt he wants to assemble a dog pack, and keeps a sharp eye out for potential. I haven't seen him so interested in another dog since the time we found Pogi.
