All Creatures, Great And Small
Jun. 7th, 2014 02:35 pmThis time of year, I don't mind making little puddles when I water. The birds love it, but many of them drink from the dog's water bowl, anyway, as do the feral cats at night.
The cats are doing a good job controlling rodents in the garden. I picked a gallon of bush beans and saw cat poop, but no evidence of rodent nibbles.
Halo is getting more adventurous on our walks, and has taken to wading in the canal. He gets dirty from that, but it's worth it for the fun.
Pogi has been better behaved. He has acres where he's permitted to run like a maniac, and hunt little creatures. When he's off leash, he'll usually look at me, and follow the rules. Sometimes he'll be so far away that I'll stand on a rise and wave my arms over my head to communicate. He knows the boundaries and the second he goes out of bounds I will call him, and correct him, if he doesn't come right back in bounds.
