Red Onions

The onions started from seed are close to maturity. I planted the yellow onions, which have a bite, for cooking. The milder red onions, I'm eating raw in salads and sandwiches.
They're so good that I'm actually making raw red onion sandwiches, onions and bread, with nothing else.

Hot*, hot, hot again, but we're staying cool inside, from about noon until right before sunset. Halo was digging a burrow under a bush, but for fun, not survival. He hates the extreme heat, and prefers to be indoors, in front of the swamp cooler.
*record temp 106F

I'm picking the ripest plums and trying to ripen them in a bag indoors. I want to see how sweet they'll get. The wild plum tree along out afternoon walking route is on the same schedule as the Santa Rosa plum. I guess the Elephant Heart plums will ripen later in the season.
