I still sometimes watch old reruns of The Rockford Files.

Halo Is Now A Tracking Dog.

I let Pogi off leash early to chase a big jackrabbit, and Pogi not only lost the rabbit, but ran away. Halo stepped up and tracked Pogi, eventually to some sort of fenced water pumping station. Halo was going in a direct line, and tried to crawl under the fence, but then went along the fence, around the station, and sure enough, there was Pogi.

It's pretty amazing that Halo has started helping me find Pogi, and amazing how good he is at tracking.

I looked this subject up on the internets, and the proper term for what Halo does is "trailing", not tracking. He gets pretty intent and single-minded when he does it, and I can tell he could be a search and rescue sort of dog.
