A helicopter was again spraying the squash field this morning, and we didn't get too close to the vapors. They're fighting the same bugs that I am with my yellow squash.

The homeless guy told me he was rousted by the railroad for camping on their property. He wanted money from me for gas, but I counseled him just to move 100 feet away from the tracks. I don't think he has a vehicle. I try to be decent, but I'm not going to start handing out cash.

Some neighbors gave me both an old 2 stroke line trimmer and also a leaf blower. I'm going to start them this morning and try to get them working* correctly.

*The leaf blower seems to work fine, and the string trimmer may only need an adjustment to the throttle cable.

After reading some marginal, but very popular fiction, I'm reading the good stuff again. Right now: The Orphan Master's Son, which won the Pulitzer prize in 2012. It's fiction about people navigating the insanity that is North Korea.

I'm also convinced NOT to read anything that is part of a series. I don't like second-rate stories that never end, and pandering fantasy churned out to make money.
