Gopher Control
May. 26th, 2015 05:25 pmThe lawn looks like the surface of the moon, as Pogi had gotten carried away hunting the gophers. In a way, it's my fault for not baiting the holes quickly enough. I may soon try some steel traps that go inside the tunnels.
My gardening neighbor inherited two cats when he moved into a house. I used to feel sorry for these cats. When the meth people lived there, the cats were stuck inside for long periods of time, with no one seemingly home. When the new guy moved in, he let the cats out, and they've developed into awesome gopher catchers. He's told me that the gophers are totally gone from his property.
In other news, a big stray Rottweiler just came by the house. Pogi jumped the fence, but thank God, didn't fight with it. Rottweilers are huge, potentially lethal dogs, but they are not blindly vicious, like the pit bulls. Pogi and this strange dog had a civilized exchange, with perhaps a bit of posturing, but no violence.
