Canid Update

Here's Halo's burrow, dug in a cool shady, hidden spot in the yard. It's hard to see scale, but it's about 18 inches deep and 24 inches in diameter. I believe it's something instinctual, to cope with the hot weather. He actually comes inside when it's really hot.
We glimpsed a couple of small coyotes before down, hunting goats. The neighbor's dog was trying his best to protect, but was tied up. When we came nearby, on our morning walk, the coyotes broke off, and melted away into the brush.
The doves are getting very bold in sharing the dog's water. Pogi almost caught one a half-dozen times this morning. I moved the water bowl into a more open spot to give the birds a better chance.
