Winter Chill
Nov. 19th, 2016 11:09 amI've turned on the heat, as we've had a few mornings in the 30's. Today will be wet, courtesy of an Alaskan storm system. I saw a fifth cat hanging around this morning. I think I recognize this new cat, and it's another of the cats from the house of tragedy.
I can call all four cats I've been feeding, and three of them now act like pet cats. At least some are sleeping in the hay filled boxes I put in the shed.
Halo is now laying next to me, snuggled in my blanket. He's adjusted well to my being gone during the day. Guarding the yard keeps him occupied. It's a corner lot with wide views, and activity.
We had a break in the weather about 4 PM, so Halo and I had our afternoon walk. After he was fed, I fed the four cats again, and petted them. I'm making a point of socializing them, and today even the new grey tabby was somewhat receptive. The other three now act like my house cats. One thing about rescue animals is that you wonder about their backgrounds. Even with Halo, I still don't know much about his early years. When I got him he was unsocialized and unwanted.
