Heavy Smoke

 Heavy smoke from distant fires is blowing in on the morning wind.

Bird Predation

 Three of the five cats live within 20 feet of the tomato plants, but I'm still getting lots of bird damage to the top fruit. I do see some feathers around, so I suppose the cats help somewhat. Cats are excellent against rodents, though.

The fifth cat is the one male, and he seems to come covertly every few nights and eats up all the leftover food.
