Back from Lost Wages, Nevada
Sep. 19th, 2005 05:59 pmBack from Las Vegas, and everything was good. I did simple things, like drink $1.99 margaritas and play video poker at the Frontier Casino. I have been putting money into the business and had to pay estimated taxes on Sept 15, so I didn't have money to gamble. My girlfriend had an incredible run of luck. She won more than $1500 over the course of the weekend playing blackjack. She won consistently, about $200 to $500 every time she played, in about four different casinos.
Our least favorite was the Hard Rock Casino. They have a lot of heavy handed no-neck security types, and lots of young kids that were way too drunk. The Luxor was my favorite. That's the pyramid shaped casino with egyptian motif. Nice people there.
Spent Saturday morning at the hotel pool, soaking up some rays. The Pontiac we rented had a lcd screen that read GP, so I was trying to figure out how Global Positioning worked. I like to play with gadgets like that. By Sunday I determined that GP stood for Grand Prix, not Global Positioning. My bad.
The return flight got screwed up because of America West's overbooking of the seats. We got back to San Jose on a later flight, and I just finished a masterful letter of complaint to the America West Vice President of Customers and Inflight Services. I might get a free flight out of this.
**********editor's note: America West called and is sending us two $100 travel vouchers to compensate us for the snafu. :)
