Two of my biggest trees are infested with mistletoe, which is a parasitic plant that will eventually kill them. It's high ladder work to cut away the majority of the crown. Let's hope the trees survive such radical surgery, but there is no other choice. A quarter was cut away this afternoon, and I'll start in again tomorrow. It's freaking dangerous work as the trees are 40 feet tall. Nothing is worth a fall.

It's too much for me. After another two hours of trimming, I was cutting one of the major limbs, and realized that it could fall and take out the telephone lines. I'm going to call in a pro.

I found a tree man who will finish the trimming tomorrow. He has a crew of guys and one of those bucket trucks. He intends to trim more than I planned, and tells we the trees will be fine by springtime. So it seems that with a little luck both big trees will be saved.
