He was very skinny and wandering near the school. Later, a neighbor told me that they had found him a few miles south, but Pogi didn't take to him or his dogs. The first time we brought him home, he stayed just long enough to eat, and then went back to the school. The next day, we brought him home again, and he decided to stay. I often ride him around in the back of my truck, but so far, no one has ever recognized him.

A month or so ago, something clicked in little Pogi's brain, and he's developed into a well-behaved dog. He's fine off the leash, and listens to me, and minds me when I tell him something. The key with Pogi is not to get angry, which frightens him. He also is frightened when I open up the printer, or add water to the evaporative cooler. He loves taco trucks and the little girl next door; my guess is that he once lived in a family with kids.

He's been good for Halo. Halo was not properly socialized when he was young, but Pogi is teaching him that strange humans are not dangerous. I never get the sense, any more, that Halo is bored. Both dogs seem to get a sense of security from each other. Halo doesn't get jealous of Pogi, and when I'm petting them both, I notice that Pogi often uses that as an opportunity to snuggle up with Halo.
