Our Crazy Old Roads
Apr. 26th, 2014 10:20 pmTo amuse myself, I drove the old turnpike to and from the grocery store. At times it's like a frontage road along the interstate. Finally, it stops in a strange, barren place, about a mile from my house with just a few inhabited houses, as well as old abandoned houses and an abandoned market. I should have taken pictures and posted them to abandoned_places.
Where it stops, you can jog east a few blocks, and that's where the northern section of my avenue begins, and my house is a mile down, where this section ends in the south.
I live on a avenue that stops and starts a dozen times along many miles. It used to be a major thoroughfare, as well, but now it's a series of scattered remnants. It used to be wider, and when I mow out there, I find intact asphalt yards away from the present route.
