He was sleeping in the sun, right alongside my other two males.

It was dinner time, so I fed all the cats at their usual spot.

The black cat has a spot, and went over to eat.

No drama at all.

I'm starting to realize how social cats are, and how maybe that was a draw for the black cat.

If you remember, Cali made a point of moving in with the original three cats, and now the black cat seems to have done the same.

Cats aren't particularly social, though.

I suspect they recognize the space you've provided is a safe (albeit shared) space.

And it's pretty wonderful of you to have done that.

He could show up just for meals, but he seems to want to hang out with the other cats.

Yes, I've been reading about domestic cats, and some researchers feel that over the thousands of years that they've lived with humans, they're become more social than wild felines.
