I hardly ever let low grade drama in my LJ but Sally called me Sunday morning because it was her day off and she wanted to go to the beach. I picked her up that afternoon, but it seems the reality was that she was out all night drinking and can't go home. I let her come over take a shower and crash. She was sick all day and slept all day and night, but had to go to work Monday morning, so I even washed her clothes for her, got her up and drove her to work. When I got home Monday night she was there, and had almost finished a fifth of vodka by 6PM. She was in the middle of cooking dinner for me, and managed to burn herself, and break some dishes, fall down a few times, and make a mess of the kitchen. She was getting progressively crazier, and finally would only answer my questions by writing the answer in a loose leaf binder/journal, and making me read it. It seems she has a broken heart, caused by a guy she broke up with 6 months ago.

My cat really was spooked by her bizarre behavior and chain smoking, and when she mentioned she couldn't stay with me, I jumped on that. I had her calling her ex-boyfriends, and told her I'd drive her absolutely anywhere. She called the best prospect about 10 times, telling him she either loved him or hated him, ending each call with abrupt hangups, crying, swearing, yelling, chain-smoking, swilling straight vodka from the bottle. Her reptilian brain was taking over, and she was really gone. No one wanted her to come over, so I took her to her office in Menlo Park. She had a couch there and quite a lot of vodka left.

Don't know much about Sally's deal...but I'm glad you didn't put up with her flakiness. Some people need to infuse their lives with needless drama to inflate thier sense of purpose. Sigh. (As you might guess, I have dealt with a few of my own.)

was a neighbor, and she lived next door, at first with her husband, and finally alone for a few months, and moved out in January. I guess her deal is that she needs a man to save her from herself. There are aspects of her that I like, but at this stage in my life, I'm more selective about who I get involved with.
