Happy Halloween
Oct. 31st, 2001 10:43 pmI escorted an eight year old witch around the neighborhood for almost two hours tonight. She gathered over 130 assorted high quality candies. Things started slowly; she was shy and really wasn't so sure about going to strange houses, and asking for free candies. She hooked up with three other kids and the frenzied sugar driven mania began. I had a Robin Hood hat (but no tights) and walked with a Dad whose dog was dressed as a ballerina. We had all the fun elements, at times dozen of kids racing around, unruly teenagers, scary houses with smoke generators and tombstones in the front yard.

Yes, we had fun last Halloween, it was so chaotic and frenzied. I was glad that the older kids came out and goofed around, too. A good time was had by all.

Date: 2002-02-14 08:16 am (UTC)This is the perfect day,
to tell you that I'm entranced
by your wit and beauty.
Love is not all: It is not meat nor drink
Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain,
Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink
and rise and sink and rise and sink again.
Love cannot fill the thickened lung with breath
Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;
Yet many a man is making friends with death
even as I speak, for lack of love alone.
It well may be that in a difficult hour,
pinned down by need and moaning for release
or nagged by want past resolutions power,
I might be driven to sell you love for peace,
Or trade the memory of this night for food.
It may well be. I do not think I would.
