I guess it's the 21st century, already.
Jan. 15th, 2002 09:37 pmHas anyone else noticed that a new dialect has evolved in the English language? It's an affected way of sounding cool and perky, and seems to be confined to white, affluent teenage girls. The cadence is different from standard English, and it seems to be spoken faster with emphasis on different syllables. It also is sort of slurred. It's something like "Valley Speak" that started near L.A. in the eighties, and I'm hearing it a lot, especially on shows like "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer". It's so different, that I have a hard time understanding what is being said.
