Hey Baby, I'm your Handyman
Jan. 20th, 2002 09:38 pmYou aging hipsters never mention home improvement projects in LJ. What empty and meaningless lives you lead! Well, in Genesis, God brought light to the universe.
Today, in commemoration of that act, and because I'm made in the image and likeness of God, and it being Sunday, I put a new ceiling light fixture in the kitchen. I turned off the electricity at the breaker, pulled the old, broken 30 year-old fixture out. I got the new bracket installed properly and the wiring connected. But they gave me little plastic bogus twisty nipples to connect all the wiring, and when I pushed the wiring back into the ceiling it came loose. Please realize, I am standing on a chair and working in a hole in the ceiling. My arms got tired, and my patience was running thin, and I didn't want to do a half-ass job and have a fire later. So, on the first day, I rested, and it was good.
I have two 75 watt bulbs suspended from a hole in the kitchen ceiling. Functionally it's perfect, and I can make it pretty another day.
