I was listening to one of those smart-ass syndicated radio shows (Frank & Mike?) on the way home from Costco. They are Howard Stern knock-offs, and always go for the irreverent and tasteless in life. They were clowning about John Gotti's death, playing the theme from "The Godfather", joking about John Gotti's son. I hope Frank and Mike get whacked. I'm not fond of the Mafia, but grew up next door to the Sacherri family, who were loyal to Lucky Luciano. They lived in a nice house, and I don't recall what the father did for a living. I was a well-behaved dark haired kid, about the same age as their son, and I recall them always speaking freely around me and talking of Luciano in glowing terms, and denouncing all the media lies about him. They were passionate people, and they loved and hated with an equal fierceness. I think my Dad taught me respect, and not to mock the dead. But the Sacherri's gave me a glimpse into Mafia loyalty, and I know not to carelessly disregard those that will kill you.
