No one ever writes about driving trucks.
Oct. 24th, 2002 07:45 pmI had a stressful 13 hour day, with no food, but surprisingly, now that it's over, and I've had dinner, I feel great. We bought 350 monitors in Oakland, and flipped them (sold them fast) a few hour later in Fremont. We had to pick them all up between 9 AM and 3 PM. I have a delivery truck, but it's not enough for so many monitors. So I rented another truck, and two of us, in separate trucks, were moving them as fast as we could, but we did get it done. :)
I got to drive the 24 foot rental truck. It was a piece of junk, with a worn out manual transmission. I drove it over 160 miles, through urban traffic.I gassed up in the bad part of Oakland, and all the street dealers were making furtive gestures. I think they wanted me to know where to buy crack cocaine. Highway 880 through the east bay is a nightmare, and I got to do it 4 times today. I was going on adrenaline all day with no breakfast or lunch, and now I can relax and take it easy.
