A Tiny Bit Of Sentiment
Nov. 12th, 2003 10:56 pmI can't help but notice the LJ posts commemorating dead celebrities: Johnny Cash, some depressive emo boy who stabbed himself, John Ritter, and now, Art Carney.
Am I a heartless person? I don't really have any emotional reaction to the death of these people. When I ponder my reaction, I realize that I am anti-celebrity. These people don't know me, or care about me, so why should I give a rat's ass worth of phony sentiment about their passing?
That doesn't mean that I don't have feelings for the real people that I know and interact with. I even have varying degrees of concern and affection for you people that inhabit LiveJournal land. Some of you are not officially on my friends list, but once were. To be honest, I'm fine with not being able to read the locked posts- the gory and tawdry details of your lives. I really don't want to know certain things. But take good care of all your bad selves.
